Limitations of BankID on mobile for document signing
You cannot use BankID on mobile as a standalone method for signing documents. The technical infrastructure for BankID on mobile is tied to the SIM card, and PDF files are too large to be transmitted through a SIM card connection.
Signing with BankID on mobile as a one-time password
To sign documents with BankID on mobile, you must use the service as a one-time code generator, also known as BIM OTP. The signing process requires you to enter the one-time code generated by BankID on mobile along with your personal password.
Coordination of BankID services and bank requirements
You can typically find your Norwegian BankID Personal Password through your online banking portal. To sign documents using BankID (BID) in combination with BankID on mobile (BIM), both services must be issued and maintained by the same bank.
If you do not have a BankID (BID) or if it is held at a different bank than your BankID on mobile (BIM), you must establish a BID at the bank where you have BIM or set up BIM at the bank where you have your BID.
