Types of accounts in Penneo
Personal accounts (signer archives) in Penneo are created automatically the first time you sign a document using one of the following electronic IDs: MitID (Private or Erhverv), BankID NO or SE, FTN, BeID, or Itsme (provided Itsme was used both to open and to sign the document). No personal archive is created when signing with a Simple Electronic Signature (SES), ID Verifier, or AusweisApp.
This account, your signer archive, is created in the background and linked to the electronic ID you signed with, so your signed documents can be stored and retrieved later. You can access your signer archive at any time by logging into Penneo with the same electronic ID.Â
Â
Penneo company accounts are set up under a contract between Penneo and the company. You can access a company account by logging in with the credentials your administrator has enabled for your user account.

What is the account selector?
The Penneo Sign account selector is a screen that appears during login whenever your login credentials — whether a personal eID such as BankID or MitID, or an SSO method such as Google or Microsoft — are linked to more than one Penneo account. Rather than logging you straight into a single default account, Penneo asks you to choose which one to access for that session.
Â
Why you might see multiple accounts
Depending on how you use Penneo, the account selector might show only personal accounts, only company accounts, or a mix of both. Simply pick the one you want to log into.
This screen can appear regardless of which login method you use — eID, Google, or Microsoft — and typically shows up in one of two situations:
- You have both a signer archive and a Penneo user account. If you've previously signed a document with a personal eID, you already have a signer archive linked to it. If that same eID is later enabled as a login method for a separate Penneo user account, logging in will match both, and Penneo will ask you to choose between them.
- Your login method is linked to several company accounts. If the same eID, Google account, or Microsoft account has been enabled as a login method for multiple Penneo companies — for example, because you work with or for several organizations that each use Penneo — logging in will show you every matching company account, and you'll need to select the one you want.
Â
Choosing the right account
When the account selector appears, select the account you meant to log into:
- Choose your signer archive to view or retrieve documents you've personally signed with an eID.
- Choose your Penneo user account to create, send, or manage case files on behalf of yourself or an organization.
- Choose the relevant company account if your login method is linked to more than one organization and you need to work in a specific one.
If you select the wrong account, there's no need to log out. Just click your name in the top-right corner and select Switch accounts to move to any other account linked to your login.
