Learn about Penneo account activation, link expiration, login configurations, and the step-by-step process for setting up your new profile.
Account Activation Link Validity & Expiration
When a Penneo administrator creates your user profile, you will receive an activation email. For security purposes, the activation link has strict time limits:
- Unopened Link Validity: The activation link expires 14 days after the email is sent.
- Opened Link Validity: Once clicked, the link remains valid for only 30 minutes.
⚠️ Important: You must complete the entire account creation process within that 30-minute window after clicking the link to ensure successful access. If the activation link has expired, please contact your Penneo administrator and request a new activation (or password reset) link. Once you receive it, simply follow the setup process below that matches the login methods enabled for your account.
Login Method Configuration
The specific login methods available to you depend on the options enabled by your Penneo administrator. These may include Classic credentials (username and password), MitID, API keys, Google or Microsoft sign-in and etc.
The guide below covers the most common combinations of these methods.
For more on how administrators enable or disable login methods, see our guide on How to Enable/Disable Users' Login Methods or our user guide on How to Connect an eID to a Penneo Login.
Step-by-Step Account Setup Procedure
After clicking the activation link in your welcome email, Penneo will guide you through setting up each login method your administrator has enabled for you, one at a time. You'll return to a starting screen between each method until all of them are configured. Follow the scenario below that matches your account.
⚠️ Important — Complete the Entire Process: Make sure you go through the full setup and configure every login method your administrator has allowed for your account before closing the session.
