Understanding signer role customization in Penneo
When creating a case file in Penneo, you can change the name of the roles selected for signers. This customization is helpful when a role suits a signer’s required signing order and document access, but the default name is inappropriate for that specific recipient.
Changing a role name in Penneo does not change its ‘behavior’ or the underlying rules applied to that role. For instance, if you assign a signer the role of Seller and then change the name of the role to Buyer, the signer will still follow the signing workflow and document access rules assigned to the original Seller role.
Customizing role names in the Penneo Web Interface
To customize signer roles in the Penneo Web Interface, navigate to the third step of the case file creation process where you add signers.
- Click on Add signer.
- Choose a role for the signer you are creating.
- Once you have chosen a role, check the box for the Customize role names option.
- Type your desired name for the role in the field titled Customized signer role. The original name of the role remains visible on the left side of the field.
- Click Add recipient when you have entered all required information.
Within the Penneo Web Interface, the creator can view the original role name in brackets next to the customized name. This is only visible to the creator and will not be visible to the signer.
Customizing role names in the Penneo Desktop Application
In the Penneo Desktop Application, the option to customize roles appears in the third step of case file creation. You must first upload the signable documents to be able to choose a role and customize its name.
- Click on the box under Role for the signer you wish to customize.
- Choose a role from the list.
- Click Edit and type your desired name for the role in the field that appears.
Within the Penneo Desktop Application, the creator can still view the original role name in brackets next to the current role name. This information is visible only to the creator and is not shown to the signer.
