SMS verification
SMS verification is a feature that got introduced to restrict the access to a case file for the signer to the documents that have sent out for signature.
It can be used as 2-step verification method to increase the security of the singing process.
SMS verification is not a signing method and therefore the resulting security of the signature of the signer depends on the signing method the signer uses: SES, Advanced Electronic Signature (AdES) or Qualified Electronic Signature (QES).
This function is not available on the Desktop application.
How to enable the SMS verification on a signer
- The administrator of the company account must enable SMS in the section Allowed methods for signing and access in the company settings. You can read more on how to view and change settings for your company account in this article.
-
When adding a recipient to a case file, the sender of the case file can choose to enable viewing restrictions with SMS by adding the phone number of the signer and clicking on Add recipient.
-
When the signer clicks on the signing link, they are shown the last three digits of their phone number. If the digits match, they simply press "Send me the code." The signer will then receive a one-time code via SMS, which they need to enter to verify their identity and access the documents.
-
Once the signer has signed the document, using a signing method of choice, “SMS verified” will be displayed on the signature page.
