Note: This article only addresses error 400 during the send-out of a case file, not during the signing process. If you are receiving error 400 when attempting to sign documents, read this guide: Unknown error / Error code 400: Expired or invalid signature.
The message "Error 400" or "Something went wrong" is usually shown when there has been an error in the structure of the case file - i.e. when the chosen signer roles and document types do not correspond to each other.
The error could be due to one of the following reasons:
-
You have selected a document type, but none of your signers have a role that allows them to sign that document.
- You have only selected attachments and the case file is missing documents requiring a signature.
To resolve this error, please review the case thoroughly and correct the structure. Navigate to the first step of the case file creation process, click the question mark next to the signing flow you have chosen, and compare your document types and roles.
In our latest version of Penneo, the question mark is also visible on the final overview page before sending the documents out.
