We recommend that all PDFs uploaded to Penneo be created in PDF/A format, as this ensures that Penneo can read the PDF file correctly.
If you experience characters being replaced or displayed in the wrong font - which typically happens with special characters like Æ, Ø, Å - the issue might be that the font is not embedded in the PDF file. Therefore, Penneo cannot read the file (and those characters) correctly.
This commonly happens when creating PDFs with the built-in plugin in Windows 10.
If you see blank or black pages in the documents you have uploaded to Penneo, that is usually caused by transparent layers in the PDF. Those layers prevent Penneo from preparing the PDF to be digitally signed.
Solution
All PDF-related issues, including those described above, are typically fixed by printing a new version of your PDF.
To print a PDF:
- Open the file.
- Click on the print option, and change the printer to Save as PDF.
- Print the file and save it.
After printing a new PDF, try uploading the new PDF to Penneo.
We recommend using Penneo's PDF printer; you can read more about it here: How to install and use the Penneo Printer.
